The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This sale is a marked, second thinning of 240 acres of planted slash pine stands in Matanzas State Forest located in St. Johns County, Florida. Timber to be removed includes all trees marked with blue paint, as well as any timber designated by the Forester in Charge. The target basal area of the remaining trees is 50 sq ft/acre. The number of logging decks should be kept to a minimum, and located on previous deck locations whenever possible. Skid trails are to be no wider than 20 feet. Sale boundaries for the thinning are roads, firelines, wetland areas, and adjacent younger pine stands. Estimated volumes available for harvest are 3,386 tons of pulpwood, and 1,801 tons of chip-n-saw and better. This will be a twelve-month contract.
