The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of processed pine seed. The purpose of this bid is to obtain competitive bids for the purchasing of various lots of second generation slash pine seed from the Munson Seed Orchard, Blackwater River State Forest. Five separate open-pollinated family lots of seed are available for bid. Each lot of seed is stored in barrels of one to five barrels per lot. Bidders will be allowed to bid per barrel. Net weight of seed will vary between barrels. The Florida Forest Service will not customize or adjust seed amounts per barrel. Seed lots will be labeled Lot A through Lot E. The bid form will show a more detailed breakdown showing the number of barrels in each lot and weights of each barrel. The highest bidder for each barrel will be awarded that barrel for purchase. The bid package contains pertinent information, such as moisture content, percentage of full seed, purity, germination rate, and estimated seed per pound for the lots being sold. Any estimates of genetic merit are derived from research and progeny tests for the Cooperative Forest Genetics Research Program. The CFGRP is a partnership of state agencies, privately held companies, and the UF|IFAS School of Forest Resources and Conservation. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
