The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This sale is for a fifth row operator select thinning on 87 acres of planted slash pine on Jennings State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Clay County, Florida. Timber to be removed include every fifth row and select trees in the leave rows to reach a desired basal area of 75-80 square feet per acre. Trees to be removed in the leave rows include diseased, forked, or suppressed as well as a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant to reach the targeted basal area. Trees with colored band should not be harvested. The Forester-in-Charge must approve of all skid trails and logging decks. Sale boundaries are roads, fire lines, wetlands or obvious timber type changes. The estimated volume to be cut is 3,304 tons of pulpwood and 252 tons of chip and saw.
