ITEM SUBJECT RECOMMENDATION

Administration

1. Hillsborough Community College Request for a New South Center

Pursuant to Section 240.311(3)(j), Florida Statutes, and Rule 6H-1.040, FAC., for establishing campuses, centers, special purpose centers, and instructional site designations for community colleges, the Florida Board of Education approved the above request on January 18, 2002. This request is subsequently submitted to the State Board of Education for consideration and approval.

2. Academic Charter School of Boca Raton West vs. Palm Beach County School Board

On November 20, 2001, the Palm Beach County School Board voted to deny the Academic Charter School of Boca Raton West Application This appeal is brought to the State Board of Education, pursuant to Section 228.056, Florida Statutes, which includes provisions governing the appeal process for charter schools.

3. The Polk Charter Foundation - Academy High vs. Polk County School Board

On December 11, 2001, the Polk County School Board voted to deny The Polk Charter Foundation - Academy High Application. This appeal is brought to the State Board of Education, pursuant to Section 228.056, Florida Statutes, which includes provisions governing the appeal process for charter schools.
