  1. Learning Excellence Foundation of Pine Hills Charter School, Incorporated vs. the School Board of Orange
  2. County.

    On November 21, 2000, the Orange County School Board voted to deny the application for a charter of Learning Excellence Foundation of Pine Hills, Inc. This appeal is brought to the State Board of Education pursuant to Chapter 228.056, Florida Statutes, which includes provisions governing the appeal process for charter school applicants. This item was deferred at the February 6, 2001, State Board Meeting at the request of the applicant and school board.

  3. Request by Broward Community College for Establishment of a Special Purpose Center in Miramar.
  4. Section 240.147(6), Florida Statutes, directs the Postsecondary Education Planning Commission to "advise the State Board of Education regarding the need for and location of new programs, institutions, campuses and instructional centers of public postsecondary education." On February 28, 2001, the Postsecondary Education Planning Commission approved a request by Broward Community College for a special purpose center in Miramar and recommends approval by the State Board of Education.

  5. Request by Seminole Community College for Establishment of a Special Purpose Center in Seminole County.
  6. Section 240.147(6), Florida Statutes, directs the Postsecondary Education Planning Commission to "advise the State Board of Education regarding the need for and location of new programs, institutions, campuses and instructional centers of public postsecondary education." On February 28, 2001, the Postsecondary Education Planning Commission approved a request by Seminole Community College for a special purpose center in Seminole County and recommends approval by the State Board of Education.

  7. Request by St. Petersburg Junior College for Establishment of a Special Purpose Center in Downtown St. Petersburg.
  8. Section 240.147(6), Florida Statutes, directs the Postsecondary Education Planning Commission to "advise the State Board of Education regarding the need for and location of new programs, institutions, campuses and instructional centers of public postsecondary education."   11. Amendment to Rule 6A-1.0503, FAC., Definition of Qualified Instructional Personnel.
  12. This rule amendment is to add additional options to designate teachers as "in-field."

  13. Amendment to Rule 6A-1.09412, FAC., Course Requirements – Grades 6-12 Basic and Adult Secondary Programs.
  14. This rule amendment is to adopt the updated course requirements for grades 6-12.

  15. Amendment to Rule 6A-1.09441, FAC., Requirements for Programs and Courses Which are Funded Through the Florida Education Finance Program and for Which the Student May Earn Credit Toward High School Graduation.
  16. This rule amendment is to adopt an updated listing of all courses offered in the public elementary, secondary, vocational-technical, and adult education programs in Florida including related teacher certification coverages. (Additional backup available in office of Cabinet Affairs.)

  17. Amendment to Rule 6A-20.012, FAC., Critical Teacher Shortage Tuition Reimbursement Program.
  18. This rule is amended to adopt an updated application form, to align the timelines for application with the fiscal year, and to adopt provisions for granting awards after the application deadline.

  19. Amendment to Rule 6A-20.0131, FAC., Critical Teacher Shortages.
  20. This rule amendment is to implement legislative changes enacted in Chapter 2000-301, Laws of Florida, which added the options of a teacher having a minor in the subject field for which instruction is provided, or the teacher having demonstrated sufficient subject area expertise in the subject area in which instruction is provided as two additional means by which the teacher shall not be designated and reported as "out-of-field."

  21. Amendment to Rule 6A-20.025, FAC., Grants for Teachers for Special Training in Exceptional Student Education.
  22. This rule amendment is to implement legislative changes enacted in Chapter 2000-301, Laws of Florida, which added the options of a teacher having a minor in the subject field for which instruction is provided, or the teacher having demonstrated sufficient subject area expertise in the subject area in which instruction is provided as two additional means by which the teacher shall not be designated and reported as "out-of-field."

  23. Amendment to Rule 6A-14.030, FAC., Instruction and Awards in Community Colleges.

This rule amendment is to update associate in science and associate in applied science degree titles; to delete programs no longer in existence or merged with other degree program; to add new programs approved in 1999-2000; and to update program lengths approved by the Articulation Coordinating Committee.
