STATE OF FLORIDA SIGNS $280 MILLION CONTRACT FOR CONVERGYS TO PROVIDE HUMAN RESOURCES OUTSOURCING SERVICES

-- Contract expected to save Florida up to $173 million over 7-year term --

(Cincinnati; August 20, 2002) - - - Convergys Corporation (NYSE: CVG), the global leader in integrated billing, employee care, and customer care services, announced today the signing of a seven-year, $280 million outsourced employee care services contract with the State of Florida. Convergys will commence work immediately on the business process outsourcing (BPO) contract to support the State's 189,000 employees and elected officials with such services as human resources, benefits and payroll administration, recruiting, and training.

Florida, the fourth largest state in the United States (based on population) and the first major state to outsource HR services, selected Convergys after completing a thorough competitive analysis of over a dozen outsourced services providers. According to the State of Florida's Department of Management Services, the project will consolidate similar personnel-related functions across state agencies, resulting in tremendous gains in service delivery and avoiding future costs of up to $173 million over seven years.

Under the terms of the contract, Convergys will operate employee care service centers in Jacksonville and Tallahassee.
