Investigators Sweep South Beach for Talent Agent Compliance
39 South Beach talent agents checked for licensing and compliance; more leads being explored
August 1, 2007
Miami Beach (FL)—Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) investigators swept South Beach Friday, July 27 looking for unlicensed talent agencies. The sweep revealed 39 licensed agents at 33 different locations. No violations were noted.
Several licensed talent agents also advised DBPR investigators of the unlicensed activity in the area, and investigators are following up on the leads. In Florida a person acting as a talent agent is required to be licensed when securing, for a fee, an entertainment engagement for their client. Acting as an unlicensed talent agent is punishable by a $2,500 citation on the first offense.
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation licenses and regulates nearly 1,000,000 of Florida’s businesses and professionals.
