The City Council consists of five members, including the Mayor. All seats on the City Council are filled by non-partisan election as outlined in the City Charter. The Mayor and City Council are responsible for reviewing and enacting legislation and policies that govern our community, the appointment of members to various city boards and the contracting of municipal services. City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of the Month at 7:00 PM in the City Hall Annex, 111 Polk Avenue. The public is encouraged to attend City Council meetings.

Mayor Rocky Randels

Mayor Rocky Randels has served the Cape Canaveral City Council for 21 continuous years. He retired from the Postal Service as Cocoa Postmaster with 39 years career service and has been a resident of Cape Canaveral for 27 years. Mayor Randels serves at Federal, State, and County levels on many Board of Directors, Committees and Associations of both governmental and private organizations. Mayor Randels sees the most important issue facing Cape Canaveral as both an opportunity and a responsibility. He states that the city is being discovered as a very desirable area. This offers an opportunity to continue to pursue our City's vision and implementing our mission statement. for Cape Canaveral as "a safe, clean, residential, beachside community with tree lined streets; a City that cares about their residents."  He also states that there is a responsibility to maintain and continue the quality of life that we now enjoy, preserving the community appeal that is the reason many of us live here. Mayor Pro Tem Robert E. (Bob) Hoog

Currently serving the City of Cape Canaveral as Mayor Pro Tem.  Mayor Pro Tem Hoog's past City Service includes: Code Enforcement Board Chairperson, member of the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals, Local Planning Agency, Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Adjustment.  Mayor Pro Tem Hoog has served the City Council as Mayor Pro Tem from 1984-1989.  Mayor Pro Tem Hoog quotes the following:  "I will continue to serve the Citizens of Cape Canaveral for a clean, drug free, residential community with a strong enforcement of the Ordinances and Codes, clean beaches and honest government".  Mayor Pro Tem Hoog is married to wife, Boon and has six children, 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Council Member Buzz Petsos

Councilman Buzz Petsos has served on the Council from 1994-2003 and 2004 to present, he was Mayor Pro Tem from 1997-2003. He has been a resident of Central Florida since 1968 and Cape Canaveral since 1990. He served on the Planning and Zoning Board from 1992-1994 and was its Chairperson for a year. Buzz was influential in establishing the City's Youth Center , he was aware of a need for a place where youngsters could gather and enjoy themselves in a safe environment.  He currently serves as the President for the Brevard Co. Sheriff's Office PAL and as President of the local Kiwanis Club, He is also on the Advisory Boards for both our local Elementary and High schools. Buzz continues the drive to renourish the beaches by serving on the Beach Improvement Council for Brevard County and wants to ensure that no commercial development is allowed along our beaches in the City.

Council Member Shannon Roberts

Shannon Roberts has been a resident of the City of Cape Canaveral for ten years, serving as Vice-Chair of the City's Business and Cultural Development Board before her current service as a member of City Council. She is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Brevard and is active in the Cape Canaveral Kiwanis Club and NASA Alumni Volunteer Program. She has more than 30 years experience with NASA, the U.S. Departments of Justice and Transportation, the President's Council on Management Improvement and Xerox Corporation, serving most recently as Associate Director, External Relations and Business Development at Kennedy Space Center. Keeping the City of Cape Canaveral a "safe, clean, residential beachside community" is one of her main goals for the City. Among the most pressing issues she sees facing the community are: managing the City's growth; providing for transportation and public safety needs; preserving green space; protecting the City's beaches and waterways; and, helping the residents know where their resources are going and what they are getting in return. 





The Volunteer Corps 
is an essential part of many City Beautification Projects.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Sea Oats Planting Project

     The City of Cape Canaveral (City) will be conducting our annual sea oats planting project on Saturday, February 16 @ 9:00 am at Cherie Down Park . Volunteers are needed to help plant 5,000 sea oats along the beach to further beautify/stabilize the Atlantic Ocean dune. Planting supplies will be provided by the City, and food and beverages will be available at Cherie Down Park after completion of the planting activities. Please come out and support this important community project.
