Someone once said…”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

I ask you to behold the beauty of Cape Canaveral,

tiny city of sun, space and sea.

Some of it created by God, some by mankind.  Beauty nonetheless.

From tree lined streets of holly, cabbage palm and magnolia to majestic oaks and gumbo limbo.

There are sea oats by the sand fences, waving in the ocean breeze.

Nickerbean, railroad vine, beach sunflower and sea grapes.

Mangroves and manatees.

Even the nesting loggerheads return every year, just like the tourists.

Don’t forget the native green anoles, the pilliated woodpeckers,

plentiful pelicans, herons, egrets and ospreys.

Even the elusive family of bobcats playfully watches the zebra butterflies.

A community of year round homes and vacation condos, libraries, recreation centers,

the crack of a bat at the ballfield and cheers of children playing in the parks.

The serenity of sidewalks that wind through neighborhoods,

while Space Shuttles soar and rockets rumble skyward.

There’s more to describe the beauty of Cape Canaveral,

but I will leave that up to you to envision and reflect.
