A construction permit issued under this division shall be void if construction of the required improvements does not commence within 180 days. A construction permit shall expire one year from the date of its issuance. The failure to complete construction of the improvements within one year shall automatically revoke the construction permit unless the planning and zoning board grants an extension of such permit if good cause is demonstrated in the applicant's written request for such an extension.
