The city may support and assist a volunteer fire department. Such support and assistance may include but shall not be limited to the furnishing of city fire trucks, firefighting equipment and supplies for any use by the volunteer fire department, payments to volunteer firefighters for attendance at volunteer fire department meetings or for answering fire alarms and calls and the payment of premiums on life insurance and hospitalization insurance policies covering the volunteer firefighters.
