Upon cessation of discussion or if called, the motion before the city council shall be restated by the presiding officer. Each councilmember shall be called in alphabetical order according to last name and shall verbally state "for" or "against" the motion. The city clerk shall record the vote of each councilmember both in the minutes and upon the resolution or ordinance. The presiding officer shall declare the status of the motion after a vote has been taken.
