POLICE & PUBLIC SAFETY OVERVIEW
The City of Cape Canaveral contracts with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) for police service.  The BCSO has established a separate Police Precinct, located at 111 Polk Avenue for the City's operations.  Commander Doug Scragg is the commanding officer.
The Brevard County School Board has contributed $26,341 towards the operating expense of the school Resource Officer, located at Capeview Elementary School.  The balance of this resource officer is paid through the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
This budget includes two new deputy positions, starting in October of 2006.  The overall budget of the Police Contract increased $433,835.  Capital for these new positions is budgeted in the Capital Expansion Fund.  Additionally, $32,073 is established for a Building Reserve.
