The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a fourth row logger select of approximately 301 acres of 20 to 38 year old planted slash pine and four acres of natural slash pine on John M. Bethea State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Baker County, Florida. Timber to be removed from the logger select thinning area includes every fourth row and select trees in remaining rows to reach a target basal area of 70-80 square feet per acre. Timber to be removed in select rows will be harvested based on the following criteria: diseased, damaged, defective, forked, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired basal area. Leave trees should be evenly spaced throughout the sale area. The target basal area per acre and/or number of trees per acre can be adjusted by the Forester-In-Charge as needed due to variations in stand and site conditions. Timber to be removed in the natural pine area includes all timber marked with blue paint. Unmarked timber in this area is not to be harvested or damaged. Sale boundaries are marked property boundaries, roads, firelines, or wetlands. Decks and skid trails are designated with blue paint on all blocks to be thinned. Property boundary trees are marked with white bands or property signs and are not to be harvested or damaged. Sale includes a historic site within a stand and harvesting will be excluded from this area which is delineated in the maps. Estimated volumes to be removed are 9,406 tons of pulpwood and 4,370 tons of chip-and-saw or better. This sale contract will be for twelve (12) months. Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting Ethan Darnell at (904) 259-4688.

The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
