The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. The purpose of this bid is to obtain competitive bids for the harvesting of green longleaf pine cones from one of three separate areas of Blackwater River State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755). Up to a maximum of three companies will be allowed to collect cones during the collection period from contract execution through November 30, 2017. Three cone collection areas, Area 1 (15,900 acres), Area 2 (16,385 acres), and Area 3 (8,325 acres) are identified on the attached maps. Only one harvest area will be awarded to an individual bidder. The bidder submitting the highest per bushel price will have the first choice of harvest areas. A minimum of at least 1,000 bushels of cones must be purchased from the Florida Forest Service from each harvest area. Trees that are allowed to be shaken for cones must have a minimum diameter of 10 inches DBH. No trees less than 10 inches DBH may be shaken. Equipment used for cone collection should be in good condition and operated in such a way as to not cause damage to either the shaken trees or other timber. Please pay special attention to the draft state land sale agreement as this document identifies special conditions and penalties. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
